RBI were appointed the M&E contractor on this project and had responsibilities to design, project manage (which involved attending weekly held meetings between the Architects, Client and interior designer) and install a fully working integrated system combining of the following services:

Heating / Cooling- An air handling unit was installed which consisted of a heating and cooling coil and was ducted out into the restaurant. This had to be designed to allow for air flow changes for a capacity of up to 300 people. The heating coil is run off a 110Kw condensing gas boiler and the DX coil run off a Copland Scroll Condensing unit.
Also in addition we installed 4-way comfort cooling cassette units to cope with the general heating and cooling of the restaurant.
The beer cellar needed to be kept chilled so a separate specialist Qualitair cellar cooler was installed to achieve this.
Ventilation / Extract- In the kitchen a 5 metre extract canopy was installed above the gas cooking ranges which to meet regulations was linked into an gas interlock panel with knock off emergency button. Also a large twin fan extract system was installed to the WC areas.
Water Services and Sanitaryware- The hot water generation was carefully thought about and because of planning restrictions of penetrations of flues and lack of room in the plantroom an Ormandy plate heat exchanger was opted for. This again is run off the gas fired boiler. All water services, above ground drainage and sanitaryware were installed by RBI and the finish was to a very high standard with the WC’s looking ultra modern and trendy as required on such a project as this.
Lighting- Calculations for LUX levels were carried out and a fully integrated dimmable panel was installed to give mood lighting throughout the Restaurant day and night.
The lighting consists of down lights and feature lights with several lights sunk into the floor to light up stairs and the entrance to the WC’s. |

Power- This consisted of sockets to the office area, beer cellar, cleaner’s points and clean supplies to tills which also required data points feeding back to a computer.
Outside lighting and electric heaters were installed again with a modern feel to fit in with the aesthetics of the building.
Controls- A BMS trend control system was installed. This was designed and installed to control, run and manage all of the M&E services which are mentioned above.
Upon completion all services were tested and commissioned and hand over documents presented to the client along with training to operate the basic controls.
